Baiting Hollow Cemetery, Suffolk County, New York

                                                                 Transcription:

In

Memory of

Nathan Benjamin

who died May 14, 1805

in the 72 year of his age.

“My flesh shall slumber in the

ground

Till the last trumpets joyful sound

Then burst the chains with sweet

surprise

And in my Savior’s image rise.”

Note:  The Epitaph on the gravestone is from a poem entitled Lord, I am Thine.  

The poem, written by Isaac Watts is found in his collection entitled The Psalms of David, 1719 .
